Estimation of the Mechanical Parameters for a Reduced Coupled Flexural–Torsional Beam Model of a Tall Building by a Sub-Structure Approach

The use of equivalent beam models to estimate the dynamical characteristics complex tall buildings has been investigated by several authors. main reason is structural response estimation stochastic loads, such as wind and earthquake, using a reduced number degrees freedom, which reduces computational costs therefore gives designer an effective tool explore possible solutions. In this paper, novel approach calibrate mechanical features complete 3D Timoshenko beam, i.e., describing bending, shear torsional behavior, proposed. This based on explicitly considering sub-structures building. particular, frames, walls lattice sub-systems are modeled beams, constrained means rigid diaphragms at different floors. overall dynamic building obtained equating deformation energy sandwich with that selected sub-structures. Finally, parameters calibrated minimizing suitable function modal natural frequencies static displacements. closed form solution model used obtain loads.
